Section 8 Voucher Program

In an effort to prioritize the voucher assistance to those in most need and families that reside in the Raleigh Housing Authority’s jurisdiction, several preferences have been adopted by RHA and incorporated into its Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) policy. Those preferences are:

• ELDERLY ……defined as 62 years or older

• DISABLED

• WAKE COUNTY RESIDENT (Living and/or working in Wake County at time of

  application)

• WORKING FAMILY (Working at least 20 hours weekly for at least 6 months)
